Booking Info

Most of the time people don't advertise what they charge on the web, but I'm proud to be cheap. Ah, make that affordable...

For most average shows, I get $300. During the holidays (Oct 15-31, Thanksgiving through New Years) it's $500. New Year's Eve runs $600. Book holiday dates and summer weekends early, they tend to fill up fast.

That includes me arriving at least an hour before start time, setting up everything, starting on time (always!), and playing four sets. A set is 45 minutes of playing and a 15 minute break. If you have me start at 6:00 PM, for instance, I would finish playing about 9:45 and be packed up and out of your hair before 11:00 PM

I have been known to donate my time to a good cause. That's one where a significant amount of money is being raised for a worthy charity. I don't usually play for the sake of "exposure"; people die from exposure. Longer, more involved gigs may be bid at higher rates. This might include things like weddings or corporate parties that require a lot of planning and coordination, shows longer than four sets, travel more than a couple hours away, or *(especially!) shows involving other musicians, singers, or folks that expect to use my equipment. (I'm a solo act for a reason, you know.)

I will travel anywhere from Ogden to Provo, Park City to Tooele/Grantsville for the basic fee. Jobs outside that radius may be bid at a higher rate.

Call for a bid, I'm sure we can work out something within your budget! When you are ready to book a date, you can pay the deposit or the entire fee using the handy button in section below.

Contact Info

For booking info or questions, you can email or call, whichever suits your fancy. My email address is Info at GrizsPlace dot com (of course, change the at to @ and the dot to . and leave out the spaces) or you can contact me with the spiffy little contact form below. Make sure you enter your name and an email address or phone number so I can reply to you.

If you prefer the phone, call Griz at 801-386-7726 or click the button below and the internet will call me for you free for nothin'. How's that for handy? If I don't answer, leave a message, I'll get right back to you.

When you click on this button, it will ask you for your name and phone number. There is an option to keep your phone number private. When you click "Call Me", the Google Voice service will call your phone and connect you to my phone.

There is no charge for this and no spam or telemarketing will ever result from it. Ever.

I'm finding that some web filters block access to this call me button, so if it doesn't appear for you, please stick your finger in the dial or email me with the form above.

Terms

I will require a minimum non-refundable deposit of one half of the agreed upon fee to hold a date for you. It's only fair since I'm turning down other bookings to hold your date, right? You can send this deposit using a credit card or PayPal account with the handy button below. The remainder of the fee is payable in cash sometime before I leave after the show. If you need to pay some way other than cash, please make sure you make arrangements with me ahead of time. In those cases, PayPal or credit card is preferred and checks are a last resort.

If you cancel after paying your deposit and I manage to book something into that date, I will refund your money. If you are unhappy with my performance for a good reason I will gladly negotiate a reduced rate or even return your money. When I say good reason, what I mean is that you should know what you're buying ahead of time. You will have heard my demo recordings so you will know exactly what I sound like. If you are concerned about the list of songs I'm going to play, I can make that available to you ahead of time to make sure it's acceptable to you. Beyond that, if you have additional expectations, please voice them ahead of time. That way we both know what to expect.

Above all, I am honest to a fault in business. If something goes wrong, I will do my best to make it right. If the something that goes wrong is my fault, you won't have to ask for your money back.

Reserve a Date

If you are ready to reserve a date and have checked with me for availability and agree to my terms, fill out the info below and click the Pay Now button to send me a deposit via PayPal. You can use your PayPal account or any Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card. Payments processed through PayPal are safe and reliable and Griz's Place neither receives nor stores any credit card information.

Amount:

If you are placing a deposit, enter half the agreed upon fee in the Amount field. If you wish to pay the entire agreed upon fee in advance, enter that amount. If you pay in full in advance and the booking falls through for any reason, the amount over the deposit will be refunded.

Enter the date and time you want to reserve:

If you don't have a PayPal account you can still use this button.
Fill out the info and amount and click on the "Pay Now" button. You will get a PayPal screen. In the lower left of this screen there's a picture of the different credit cards you can use, and the text "Don't have a PayPal account?". Click the little tiny "continue" link and you will go to a screen where you can enter your credit card info.

Before you send a deposit, it's important that you contact me to ensure that the date is available. My online calendar often doesn't show travel dates or private shows and the payment button does not check availability, it only transfers payments. Please also read my booking terms below carefully and any other information I may have sent you via email.

Logistics

I will need a flat space of about ten feet square to set up in. A hard surface, like concrete or carpet, is ideal. I can set up on grass but it can be tricky if it's uneven, sloping, or really wet. If the location is outside, it would be very nice it was a shaded area. I don't mind standing in the sun so much but the equipment can overheat on hot days if it's in direct sun.

I will need at least one standard grounded (three prong) electrical outlet within 25 feet of where you want me to set up. It's best if the location is situated so extension cords do not have to cross walkways and high traffic areas. A standard home electrical outlet is 15 amps, and that's plenty as long as nothing else is plugged into it. If you have a pool, I should be as far from it as makes sense. Not only does most of my equipment fear water like the Wicked Witch of the West, I also use large amounts of electricity, which does not go well with pool playing and splashing.

Tipping

Unless I'm instructed not to, I will normally put out a cleverly decorated but crassly obvious tip jar salted liberally with my own cash. If you feel that is inappropriate for your booking, please let me know. Whether or not I put out a tip jar, tipping is optional, it's not expected, and you do not need to feel the need to tip me beyond the fee I charged for the booking. If you find yourself overflowing with gratitude that my unique talents have made your party the event of the season and want to share your ebullience by pushing a large wad of cash at me, don't expect me to turn it down. I'm not stupid. I'm just saying you don't have to. After all, that's only happened...well, never. The cash, I mean, not the talent part.

If you are feeling good about the job I did for you, a fine tip for me would be a brief email afterward with a with a nice quote about how you enjoyed my show and permission to use it on my web site as a recommendation for future customers.
